BestCourses.com
was started because the number of golf
courses across the US began growing
significantly in the 1980’s and has
continued to grow into the 21st Century,
thus, increasing the competition for the
golf courses and the golfers. While many
of the courses are good, many too are
golf courses designed to serve masses of
people not necessarily designed to
provide the golfer with a great golfing
experience. We noticed that many times
you could not identify prior to playing
a golf course whether the course was a
good golf course or not. The term “good”
is relative too, as one person’s view
may not be another’s. Many courses now a
day tout the designer, the type of grass
they have, the facilities, etc. Many
golfers have told us that a well
designed course that does not have well
maintained greens (slow, bumpy) is not
as good or as fun to play as a course
that may not be as well designed but is
well maintained and has good greens
(smooth, fast), etc.
We also noticed in the new age of the
internet that there are hundreds if not
thousands of golf websites or links on
websites touting golf courses, tee
times, reduced green fees, etc. If you
surf the web today you will notice there
are no sites that provide a search of
courses based on quality...they mostly
list hundreds if not all the courses
they can which makes the search for the
golfer very difficult as they must
search with the mentality of finding a
needle in a haystack. And many of these
sites force the consumer to forage thru
pop-up ads and many other filters before
they can get to their desired
destination...”to find a golf course in
a city, state or region”, then once they
find the course listing, there is very
little if any assistance as to the
quality of course they are viewing.
BestCourses.com
has a current list of over 900 golf
courses in the US and growing with a
goal of no more than 2000 courses
throughout the US (on average about 40
golf courses per state).
Our goal is provide not just provide the
golfer with a site that will narrow
their search, but also make their search
much more user friendly. If you want
golf courses in Florida we take you
right to Florida, etc. No pop-up ads, no
diversions to other states, equipment,
etc.
We also are striving to help the golf
courses that clearly have taken the time
and money to build, operate and maintain
the best golf courses and facilities in
their area, the US and in the world to
remain profitable. In these times with
many more courses to choose from, we
want to provide the public golfer a
resource that singles them and their
course out so the golfer can readily
identify them, find them and play their
courses. We consider our site to be an
extension of the courses main site (we
are not a replacement for their site or
competition for their site). We strive
to be a marketing partner with the best
golf courses the US has to offer.
We strive to provide the best list
within each state of some of the best
golf courses that state has to
offer….thus removing the need for the
golfer to determine which courses in a
city, state or region are the best to
play. Then we provide all the course
data that each golfer might want to or
need to know before they play, such as
the data noted above (course designer,
year opened, type of grass, practice
facility, etc).
BestCourses.com
is also striving to assist the golfer by
providing a membership that provide game
improvement, travel assistance (golf
trails and travel partners), network of
golfers like them if they need to find a
foursome or fill one. We strive to
continue to add to the membership
section what our members tell us they
would like to have us provide them to
make their golfing experience (find the
course, getting to the course, where to
stay if traveling, playing the course
and improving their game.
We thank you for visiting our site, we
encourage you to consider becoming a
member and we look forward to serving
you and listening to any feedback,
improvements you feel would improve your
experience with the game of golf.
Sincerely,
Dave
